Nimbin Bushwalkers Club

About Us

Club Walks

Our club walks have been very well attended and in these trying times its great to get out and about in our area for some serious recharging of body and mind. The Mount Chowan walk in August was very well attended with19 walkers and the crisp morning air had us all keen to get going to warm up. We used a combination of off track and fire trail to make our way to the top where we were rewarded by some gorgeous views in all directions. Not a long walk but with plenty of breaks to take in our surroundings an enjoyable walk was had. A stop in Uki for afternoon tea was also well attended. No weekend away in September as we are staying local so a couple of old favourites we have not done for a few years are now in our schedule. Changes are being made as circumstances change and hopefully the border restrictions will relax soon if warranted. Our Walks Calendar and our Facebook page have updates when changes are made. Visitors from other clubs or those looking for new adventures always welcome.

Nimbin Bushwalkers Club is affiliated with Bushwalking NSW for insurance, with annual club membership currently at $25 which essentially covers the insurance costs. As a visitor or newcomer on a walk you will need to pay $10 and sign a risk waiver form. This fee will be deducted from the yearly membership fee should you subsequently decide to join.

For the most part, we are not a fast walking group and might better be known as the "Nimbin Ramblers".  Many of our leaders are keen naturalists so most walks have many pauses as we enjoy the natural surroundings.

Our walks range from the very easy, (grade 1 or 2),  to the not so easy (with rugged off-track treks to treasures of the Nightcap Range) (grade 3 to 4), to quite difficult (grade 5 to 6). We have also enjoyed several week-long camping/walking trips on Moreton & Fraser islands and many weekend camps to places such as the Border Ranges, Bald Rock, Jerusalem Creek, Boonoo Boonoo, Angourie, Koreelah Gorge, Tooloom, Toonumbar Dam, and Broughton Island.

If you looking to get fit, do something adventurous, experience the beauty of the Australian bush & have fun at the same time, then come and join us.
